Salt cellar, porcelain, of rectangular shape with indented corners, supported on a spreading octagonal base with hollow underside, painted in famille rose enamels and gold. The upper rim is with an iron yellow dressing, painted on the hollow centre is the shield of arms, which are of Hudson (Hodgson) probably of Northumberland, Per chevron embattled or and azure, three martlets counterchanged; crest, On a rock martlet; impaling Field, Sable a chevron between three garbs argent; motto 'Sors mihi placet'.
