Sauceboat, porcelain, oval in shape with pointed spout and wavy rim, low fluted sides, loop handle, low foot ring and glazed base, after an English porcelain/silver original. Painted in enamels and gold, under the spout is the arms of Lane with Clarke in prentence. The family of Lane in a number of counties bore Per pale azure and gules three saltires argent; crest, Two griffins' heads, one gules the other azure issuing from a crescent or. The coat in pretence is Clarke of Northampton, Argent on a bend gules between three ogresses as many swans proper. There is a gold band beneath the rim suspended from which are blue swags with pink and gold ribbons and studs.
