Place of origin

Saucer with low foot. The arms are painted incorrectly in a number of ways, but are still clearly identifiable as representing those of the Haberdasher's Company impaling (probably) those of Cottington. The arms of the Haberdasher's, once called the Hurrers or Milliners, were granted in 1571 as Barry nebuly of six argent and azure on a bend gules a lion passant gardant or; crest. Two arms embowed proper issuant from clouds, holding a chaplet of laurel vert. The arms Azure a fess between three roses or are of Cottington. Round these are a chain border and below the rim others of chevron, stars and points and festoons, in blue enamel and gold.
