Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Jar and lid of porcelain, decorated with overglaze enamels of the famille verte palette, with European (probably French) silver mounts. The jar is barrel-shaped, and encircled by two 'bamboo-cane' ribs. The lid is a low dome surmounted by a pointed knob. It has been cut down at the lip to accommodate the mount, a splayed ring with pierced circular holes and engraved strapwork design, fitting into a simple silver ring on the lip of the vessel. This ring bears French importation stamps of ca. 1820-30. A silver foot with "milled" step is applied to the foot-rim.
