Bottle of buff-coloured earthenware, one of a pair with 672A-1901. Covered with an opaque white glaze and painted in enamel colours. In the panels into which the surface is divided are the following subjects, each four times repeated: the pine; the bamboo, both emblematical of longevity; a diaper design composed of the tradesman's weight, one of the precious things; and the chrysanthemum crest of the Mikado with the mallow leaf from the crest of the Tokugawa family. Used for offering saké to the divine beings. Of double gourd shape, with eight sides, each of which forms a panel filled in as above. The painting is in red, blue, green, yellow and manganese-purple.
