Jar of stoneware, with incised decoration and painting in dark brown. Inverted pear-shape, with broad foot and wide short neck. Painted in a panel on each side with a stylised flowering plant, the outlines partly incised. On the shoulder, the inscription: 'da ding yuan nian zao' in brown.

'da ding yuan nian zao' inscribed in brown on the shoulder (Da Ding was the reign title of Chen Youliang, one of the ring leaders who rebelled against the Yuan. He declared himself emperor in 1360 but was soon killed by Zhu Yuanzhang, founder of the Ming dynasty.)
