Vase of baluster form with tall neck and everted mouth. Made of thin (but not "eggshell") porcelain of greyish tone. Decorated with an eagle sitting on a pine branch, with plum blossom beneath. An inscription in black reads:
"??? branch of the pine tree.
Every now and then it (howls like) wind and wave
Spreading its wings it flies a thousand li (mile)
Gloomily it wants to snatch at man
Renxu year (1982), mid-winter, first ten days.

To the right of the inscription is a large red circular seal zhi bao (most valuable treasure) and a large red square seal jing shang (appreciation of the exquisite). At the top right of the calligraphy is a small seal song (pine), and at the end is a small seal zhi yin (seal). To the left of the pink trunk is another large red circular seal zhen zang (precious collection). The rim of the vase is gilt.
