Box in the form of a recumbent mythical beast, cloisonné enamel on copper alloy, the plain parts gilded. The upper part of the body forms the cover. The designs include the markings of the tail (dark blue), sides (green scales) and belly (lilac and yellow scales); the remaining enamelled surfaces displaying floral scrolls on a turquoise blue ground.
