Rectangular. Hinged cover. On the top and two long sides are incised conventional paddle steamers with two funnels, surrounded with scrolling foliate ornament. On the short ends are two confronted peacocks and foliate ornament.

Made of baing (tretrameles nudiflora) wood, covered on the outside with black thitsi lacquer (melanorrhaea usitata), yun (incised) technique, filled with a reddish-yellow lacquer. The inside is coated with red tinted lacquer.
Brief description
Burmese lacquered wood hinged thit-ta (storage box) of yun (engraved) work. Konbaung Dynasty (1752-1885). Decorated on a black ground with paddle steamers, peacocks and foliate patterns in reddish-yellow. ca. late 19th century.
