Picture of tapestry woven silk; the main parts of the design are indicated in the woven fabric, the other details having been subsequently painted with the brush. Intended for the decoration of a reception room. The picture depicts a landscape with a rockery of grotesque form and a clump of sacred fungus growing beside it. Near the rock is a large flowering peach-tree with two birds perched upon its branches, and at the base are roses and jasmine stems. On the left are dianthus flowers and sprays of bamboo. The background is dark blue.

Purchased from Mr. P. Kierulff (Villa Peking, Hellerup, Denmark), accessioned in 1900. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.
