Silk crêpe (chirimen) kimono said by the manufacturers to be in the iro tomesode style (coloured tomosode). The background silk is dark cream, the patterning in colours and silver and gold being confined to the hem area.
This patterning was inspired by a Japanese rimpa style lacquered scroll box on display in the Toshiba Gallery (V&A 701-1901) and the collection of inro. The design consists of willows and flowing water over which are scattered inro. It is hand drawn and dyed in colours with gold and silver leaf fixed with lacquer.
There is a plain white silk lining.
