The figure wears a medieval style purple "houppelande" with lilac, white and gold "dagged" sleeves. The figure also wears a gold belt and necklace; grey tights decorated with two gold stripes below the left knee; white "piked" shoes; and a lilac "burgundian style sugar loaf hat". Two fabric swatches are pinned to the upper left hand corner.

This Costume design by Anthony Holland is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 1996. The design was executed for a production of George Bernard Shaw's play "Saint Joan" at the Oxford Repertory Theatre, ca.1940.
