Indented corners, with painted decoration in colours and gold. The main decoration is of sages in a river scene on a red ground. The surrounding rounded sides are formed of basketry, covered on the front with black lacquer painted in gold with dragons surrounded by diaper borders. Gilt floral scrolls on the foot-rim. ''Tianqi'' mark with a cyclical date corresponding to 1624 on the black base. The corners strengthened by metalwork.
