A rectangular tray with a continuous everted border; the underside with an ornate foot in each corner. The tray depicts a landsacpe with an ox-carriage in the bottom left, balanced by small rocks and water in the top right, both among pine trees and clouds, with three scattered heraldic crests (mon) of the Hosokawa family, consisting of eight small circles surrounding a large central circle, in gold and silver hiramaki-e (flow sprinkled picture) lacquer, with kirikane (cut gold) on a nashi-ji (pear-skin ground) lacquer ground, the underside is in nashi-ji lacquer.
