This small lacquer container (kobako) is in the form of a folded robe with the contrasting techniques and designs utilised on the four segments mimicking the variation and patternation of textiles. The variation in the density of the scattered gold enlivens the piece providing a technical and colourful contrast that emphasises the contours of the box and the skill of the artist.
