Panel of silk tapestry (kesi) with silk and gold thread. Made up of three large and two small panels bordered and joined together by strips of brocade of dark blue silk and gold thread with a pattern of dragon roundels and symbols, bound with black silk. Backed by dark-blue linen.
The top panel depicts two sparrows perched on a spray of roses against a buff-coloured background. The next small panel has clouds on a red ground. The central panel depicts a scene on a veranda in front of an altar. A man is reading from a scroll to four others, one of whom kneels before him. This scene has and orange-coloured background. The small panel below has wavy lines on a red ground. The bottom panel has a tall blue vase containing a peony, a jade ring with ribbons attached and a small table with writing equipment against a blue background.
