Physical description

Rectangular black and red hinged thit-ta (storage chest). Without a keyhole. A pair of runners indicate that there would have been an inner tray. See 01181:2

The black thayo work on the top and sides has been patterned into a central scrolling vegetal zinme (Chiang Mai origin) design featuring bird and floral motif within multiple borders of rope, bead and acheik designs.

The interior is red and the inside of the lid is decorated with a central gilded design of a dancing ogre against a floral ground. This is surrounded by further silver foliate and floral patterns with a minister figure in the right hand corner led by his attendant in the left hand corner.

The figures are dressed in the fashions of the Court of Ava ca. 1850.
