Table hanging and flap, of red silk satin, embroidered with coloured silks. The main design is composed of two pheasants standing on rockery form which grow leafy branches bearing peonies and magnolias. The border has three baskets of flowers, and round both pieces runs a narrow border of interlaces scrolls enclosing rosettes and swastikas.

Physical description
Table hanging and flap, of red silk satin, embroidered with coloured silks. The main design is composed of two pheasants standing on rockery form which grow leafy branches bearing peonies and magnolias. Object history
Purchased from Mr. P. Kierulff (Villa Peking, Hellerup, Denmark), accessioned in 1901. This acquisition information reflects that found in the Asia Department registers, as part of a 2022 provenance research project.
Purchased, £3 (163 to 1634-191). Registered File number 31783/191.

Note on register:
A pair of phoenixes on rocks with peony and magnolia trees. A spray of begonia in the corner. Cloud scrolls above and a couple of flying bats (fu) as emblems of happiness (fu).;;
