Fan of carved and pierced ivory. The main portion of the design on the twenty sticks represents a landscape with figures, trees, and houses; on a shield-shaped medallion in the centre is the monogram 'M.S.' in Italic script, while the square spaces at the top are each filled with a figure. On each of the guards outside is the same pattern of figures, while inside are figures and , at the top, an animal. The backgrounds in the sticks are saw-pierced into a fine grill-pattern. The brass rivet is provided with two mother-of-pearl studs.
