A sixteen-rib folding paper fan, the ribs stained, and the outer two ribs decorated with mother of pearl inlay showing birds, rocks and foliage.
One side shows a traveller resting beneath a pine tree by a bridge, in ink and colours. There is an eleven line dedicatory inscription in the upper left corner.
The dedicatory inscription reads: 'In the first ten days of the seventh month, in the autumn of the year ren wu a guide for His Excellency Third Elder Brother Yunshan to amuse himself with when visiting Luofu. Written by Li Yinyun.' Ren wu is equivalent to 1882.
The reverse bears a long hand-written text describing the scenic and historical sites of Luofu Shan.
The paper of both sides has been lightly treated with mica.
