19th century (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Large hanging of black cotton, lined with pink cotton and a pink cotton band at the top. This band has three loops attached to it.
The hanging is embroidered in colours and couched gold thread, in satin stitch, with a central design of five dragons among clouds circling round a flaming pearl. This central design is yoke shaped, very similar to that on an uncut formal court robe.
The top two corners of the hanging also have dragon designs, while across the bottom is a band of rounded waves and mountains and six small dragons.
A narrow, straight band of embroidery runs horizontally across the middle of the hanging.
