Physical description
Oblong embroidered purse with knotted braid ornament.
[Purse] Oblong purse of blue satin lined with pink cotton, with a slit in the centre bound with black satin. The end is semi-circular and lobed, and embroidered with coloured silks and silver thread in Peking knot-stitch. One end is covered with black cotton with an embroidered border of fret pattern; to this is attached a small bag of white satin and cotton embroidered with a butterfly, two grasshoppers on flowering branches and Chinese characters within a cartouche; this small bag has a drawstring of green cord. The other end has a border of black cotton embroidered with a grasshopper and flowering plants. The bodies of all the grasshoppers are padded. The colour range is greens, blues, pinks, yellow and white.
[Braid] Triangular plaited knot in green braid from which hang three double lines of green braid bound at intervals with blue and white thread and further ornament by rings bound with looped green braid.
