The interior designer and furniture maker Robin Day was born in Hertfordshire in 1915 and has become one of the most renowned designers of the 20th century. This radio is made with a long, low cabinet of wood. It is coated in aluminium, a typical feature of British audio goods during the 1960s. Although television was by then making a serious impact on entertainment patterns in the British public, radio was still a popular form of entertainment. This radio won the Design Centre Award in 1966.
