Place of origin |
Padded winter robe of dark blue silk damask, for a man. The damask is self-patterned with roundels combining the eight Buddhist lucky symbols. In the centre of each roundel is the endless knot. Disposed around it are the other symbols: the wheel of law, the conch shell, the sacred vase, the parasol, the golden fish, the lotus and the banner.
The coat is right-side fastening with five gilt buttons and an additional loop and knot button. It has long and tight sleeves with horsehoof cuffs (matixiu). The facings of the cuffs are made of pale blue silk damask with self-patterned roundels with similar symbols to on the main body, but on a smaller scale. There are slits at the back and sides of the coat.
The garment is lined with pale blue plain weave silk.
