A fragment of figured silk, orange. The pattern is of some of the eight Buddhist emblems of Happy Augury – including the lotus flower and the canopy. The ground is plain weave with a pattern of floating warps, 3:1 twill, S direction. Self-patterning. Selvedge on one side. The warp is x-ply with no evidence of twist; approx. 48 ends cm. The weft is x-ply with a slight S twist; approx. 30 picks cm.
