Rectangular iron cabinet with a domed top filled with an elliptical ring and standing on four legs. A door at one end opens to reveal three drawers of depths increasing towards the bottom. The surfaces are entirely covered with the finest gold inlay with various decorations. The top is decorated with cherry blossoms and clouds; six circular medallions in various sizes, asymmetrically placed, and containing designs of buildings, trees, plants and birds. On the exterior of the door is a pavilion in a landscape and on the interior cranes and pine trees. The back contains an image of a cockerel and autumn flowers; the sides, buildings, a river and Mount Fuji; and on the front of the doors, butterflies, an iris pond and musical instruments. The handle of the door is formed as two butterflies modelled in the round.
