Shield dhal convex, of lacquered buffalo hide with raised decoration in the form of carnation motifs linked by curving tendrils; in the centre is an open flower surrounded by a border of foliage ornament; this is repeated round the edge of the shield which is recurved sharply round the rim; near the centre are four dome shaped iron bosses with fretted fleurette borders and decorated with a gold damascened pattern of plants and leaves; these are attached at the back to four iron holding rings set at the corner of a turquoise velvet rectangle bound with red silk and silver gilt braid; the holding straps are covered with similar turquoise velvet and are attached to the rings. The hide is scuffed and holed in places.
