Shrine
1825-1875
Place of origin |
A three piece shrine but the figure fits poorly and might not belong. The arch has been fixed to the base, which has a rat to one side so might originally have held Ganesha. The figure is labelled as " Shiva as Ganesha" with no explanation. Shiva as a God of Wisdom. The attributes in his four arms are unclear, perhaps a conch, chakra, club and bowl. The mark on his forehead could be interpreted as Vaishnavite, brass colour, little wear.
