This lavish sari includes a form of tapestry weave that is a feature of Central Indian fabrics. The technique is especially associated with the town of Paithan, but it was probably done in several centres around the city of Aurangabad. The acquisition records of the India Museum state that this sari was acquired in Burhanpur.(27/9/2013) |
