Object history
Transferred from India Museum 1879. 1880 Register Entry: [Case 12] '0322. CUFFS. Muslin, four pairs of, embroidered with beetles' wings; Madras. 2784' Slip book entry 2784: 'Muslin Cuffs 2 pairs / Madras/ 1855 / Embroidered with beetle wings'

The cuffs were purchased for the Paris International Exhibition of 1855 from a Chennai market for Rs.1-4, and are listed in the Madras Central Committiee list of exhibits for that year.
