Physical description

Woman's head cover of red cotton net, diagonal bands of floral meanders, floral sprays between the bands and one large buta in each corner, all worked in applied silver-gilt strip and sequins, silver-gilt wrapped thread embroidery, and red glass beads. Borders embellished with fancy trimming made up of flat and crimped silver-gilt gota, green silk with applied silver-gilt sequins, crimped metal strip and silver-gilt-wrapped thread embroidery, and an alternating silver and silver-gilt inner fringe. Short ends finished with alternating silver and silver-gilt fringe.

Transferred from the India Museum in 1879. 1880 Register Entry: [Case 15] '0428. SCARF. Embroidered with gold and silver; Delhi. 4108'. Slip book entry: 'Net Scarf / Delhi / 55 / Diagonal Stripes of Gold Flowers, Pine Corners, with Gold & Silver Fringe'.
