Shaffron or head-covering for a horse of embroidered cotton. Square of blue cotton backed with cotton, and with two circular holes for the ears. Covered with circular mirrors, surrounded with red button-hole stitch and couching stitch. There are concentric rings of embroidery around the ear-holes in yellow, pink and green. One small patch of noormitch embroidery in green near the centre. One half of the square is edged with tassels with cowrie shells also attached for luck.
