These plaques depict different facades that centre around a large and decorative window. It has been fashioned in alabaster which is similar in appearance to saccharoidal marble. They were either used as decoration or as architectural examples.

Brief description
Two carved and pierced plaques depicting building facades including the window frame and columns, one with floral decoration, white alabaster, tarnished metal ring for hanging, Delhi India.
Physical description
Two elaborately carved and pierced plaques, depicting building facades with a central window, side columns and pierced lower trellis work. Both are rectangular, with an attached tarnished white metal ring and fitting, in the centre of the upper edge. The larger plaque has a flower carved in relief into each corner as well as pierced work over the window and between columns. The smaller plaque only has the pierced work below the window. Both plaques have plain backs.

Object history
These plaques were formerly in The India Museum in London and were then transferred to the South Kensington Museum (later renamed The Victoria & Albert Museum) in 1879.
