These agate and jasper plaques and cabochons were produced in the mid- to late 19th century to be incorporated into jewellery or to be inset into other decorative items such as boxes. The cutting and polishing were traditionally achieved using bow-driven, abrasive-charged discs and wheels.

Four cut and polished specimens, agate, jasper and fossilised coral, one broken and repaired, India, c. 1850

Cut and polished stones of varied size, shape and colour. The largest piece has been badly damaged and then repaired.
