Costume design for Beatrice Kane as Mme Claude in "Lady Frederick". The design depicts a full length female figure holding an umbrella in her right hand, and with her left hand upraised. The figure wears a late 19th century yellow and black striped jacket and overskirt, over a black skirt with bustle. The jacket is edged at the collar, cuffs, and hem in black; and a frilly blouse is worn underneath. The figure also wears a pair of black gloves, and a conical black hat with gaunty brim decorated with a black veil and a stuffed (or artificial) green bird. To the right of the figure is a drawing showing the back view of the skirt.

This Costume design by Anthony Holland is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 1996. The design was executed for a production of W. Somerset Maugham's play "Lady Frederick" at the Savoy Theatre, November 22nd 1946. The play was produced by Murray MacDonald.
