Acquired from the Great Exhibition of 1851. 1852 Register Entry: 'EDGING. Gold and silver thread, with silk border. Indian, modern. L.4 ft., W.1 in. Bought (Exhibition of 1851), 4s. 6509-1852'. Transferred from the India Museum in 1879. Formerly assigned museum number 6509(IS), incorrectly.
