Sample book containing 44 fold-down pages, each of which one large sample of synthetic or silk fabric in a variety of very bold and colourful mechanically dyed patterns. The textiles are mounted on heavy cream paper and the book has a dark blue board cover bound with orange and white braid.
The date and title are stamped on the cover: 'Showa juni-nen, Senshoku mono hyohan, Dai san ryu' (Showa 12, Specimens of textiles, type 3). The cover is also stamped '23'. On the inside is a label written in English 'Sawada Library' and 'No.477, CIASS 432' and stamped with a red seal. On the inside back cover 'Nihon senshoku mono hyohonsha' with the telephone number and address of the company. The textile samples are grouped by month and category within the month. Each page also contains, on the upper left, a piece of promotional text outlining the main characteristics of the textile and, on the upper right, details of the department store where it is available, the name of the goods, the place of production, the length and the price.
