Production | Note in register says this glass and C.407-1936 were attributed to Antwerp by M. Armand Baar H.E. Henkes 14-09-93 Netherlands early c17th; many fragments found in Netherlands. According to Jan Baart March 1997, this is ca. 1640 Dieter Schaich (Munich) and Erwin Baumgartner (Basel) saw this piece on 8/9/2003 during the AIHV conference in London and believed this to be made in Germany (probably Spessart) for the Dutch market. They pointed out that the basering on Dutch beakers is usually wider & flatter at the bottom, due to the glass being pushed onto a flat surface during manufacture. This is not so much the case with this piece. |
