This Costume design by Anthony Holland is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 1996. The design was executed for the British premiere of Jean Cocteau's play "The Eagle Has Two Heads" at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith, September 4th, 1946. The play was adapted by Ronald Duncan and directed by Murray MacDonald. The set was designed by Gurschner, and the anthem was specially composed by Benjamin Britten.
