The figure wears a patterened red, silver and ox-blood coloured bodice, and a tight fitting ruched skirt in the same colours. The hips and shoulders are decorated with artifical silver snakes. The figure wears a silver necklace, and silver bangles. The figure wears an elaborate silver head-dress decorated with extended red fronds or feathers.

This costume design by Anthony Holland is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 1996. The design was executed for a production of Gerald Palmer's "Chu Chin Chow on Ice" at the Empire Pool, Wembley, June 30th 1953. The production was produced by Gerald Palmer, and choreographed by Beatrice Livesey.

Historical significance: An example of costume design for an Ice Show by an artist who worked extensively in this specialist field.
