He wears a long flowing grey robe with large circular collar and billowing white sleeves. The hem of the robe is edged with a band of dark grey, and the edge of the collar is decorated with grey circles or buttons. The figure has a long white beard and hair, and wears a wreath of mistletoe on his head. Annotated by the artist.

This costume design by Anthony Holland is part of an extensive collection of designs donated to the Theatre Museum by the artist in 1996. The design was executed for a production of George Bernard Shaw's play Back to Methuselah at the Oxford Repertory Theatre, 1937.
