An offering stand (sanpodai) rising from a square base with chamfered corners and conventional piercing in each side, surmounted by a flat tray, also square and chamfered, with vertical sides. The whole stand is made of wood covered in black lacquer, now changed to dark brown in places, with muranashi-ji (gold flakes scatterd to resemble clouds), over which is a design of a chrysanthemum plants and kiri (paulownia) mon (heraldic crests) in gold hiramaki-e (flat-sprinkled picture), under which a layer of red lacquer is visible in places. The interior of the tray is lacquered red, with a similar design in gold hiramaki-e.
