'DOING LITTLE'

Box
1993 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Hatakeyama Kōji lives and works in his native Takaoka, a long-established Japanese metalworking centre historically famous for bronze casting. He uses wood to create the original forms from which to make the moulds for casting his geometric boxes. It can be seen how in the case of this box the texture of the wood used to make the original form has been transferred onto its sides. The inside of the box is lined with gold foil. Gold has also been used on the flat top of the box.
