early third to late fourth century (made)
Place of origin

A crudely modelled head and neck from a figure of Buddha. The head has large protuberant eyes with boldly defined lids under arched edges of eyebrows. The hair has a raised edge round the scalp and raises from a peak to a flattish ushnisha. There is a segment of stucco attached on the right hand side which may have been part of an aureole or just part of a plain background to a larger scene.
