Physical description

Pair of Chinese child's shoes in white silk satin upper with embroidered floral motifs in multi-coloured silk floss threads, a slightly padded toe section of additional decorative embroidery, and a thin flat cotton sole with embroidered motifs in cotton thread at its bottom.

Object history note

Transferred from the India Museum in 1879. Part of an ethnological collection acquired by Sir Thomas Douglas Forsyth from Yarkand (Shache in Chinese) in 1873-4.
