Object history
Henry Hardy Cole (1843-1916) was the eldest son of Sir Henry Cole, the first Director of the South kensington (Art) Museum, later Victoria and Albert Museum.
He served in the Royal Engineers from 1862-1887,
During 1871- 1875 he was lent to organise the London International Exhibitions, at which it is possible that the present drawings may have been exhibited. From 1881-1884 he was Curator of Ancient Monuments.
