Physical description

Necklace of feathered, gold-coloured metal with diamante inserts. It fastens with a hook and chain closure. On the back it has 'BOUCHER' stamped in smaller letters and elsewhere, also on the back '6602'. Earrings of the same design. They attach to the ear with a clip at the back. Both have 'BOUCHER' stamped on the back. Box exterior red, mock-crocodile or mock snakeskin, inside lined with peach coloured satin and velvet. Inside the top in gold is written 'Ciro of Bond Street Inc.' Box may not have been original.

Object history note

This box and the jewellery set belonged to Alice Cheu (1914-1979). Despite the French-sounding name, Boucher, and the well-known pearl brand of Ciro, this set could have been made and purchased in Hong Kong.
