Contract drawing for a horse box and carriage landing

Drawing
1878 (Made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This design shows a simple arrangement for loading a horse in a railway wagon, or specialised horsebox. Instead of attempting to manoeuvre the often temperamental animals into the side of a wagon, the groom would lead the horse up a slope, over a ramp placed above the buffers, and directly through the end doors of the specially designed wagon.
