This piece was purchased from Mrs. Mary Charles, together with objects IS.238 to 248-1950 and 473 to 474-1950. These pieces were brought to England by Mr. A.H. Giles, Supdr. of Police in the District of Gaya at the time when Sir Alexander Cunningham was making the excavations of the Mahabodhi temple precincts.
