Physical description

Spittoon of silver with embossed and engraved decoration. The wide base has a scalloped rim above which is a pattern of open flowers on a punched ground; next is a design of pointed arches enclosing a floral motif and then a band of diamonds engraved into small squares; at this point the stem joins the base; the former is vase-shaped with a pronounced bulge in the centre; at the top and bottom are bands of triangles enclosing a punched semi-floral motif and round the centre a band of panels containing on ovoid floral motif alternating with un-ornamental panels; below this is a band of pointed arches enclosing a floral motif.
